2/8/10

Having been a huge fan of JD Wilke's main band "Th' Legendary Shack Shakers" it was very unlikely that I was not going to enjoy this album. The band, who consist of JD Wilkes on banjo, his wife Jessica on mandolin and best friend Layne Hendrickson on washtub bass, are as raw and acoustically brilliant as you would think.
It's a married cousin of the Shack Shakers with a toned down front man and more controlled acoustic sound. The album consists of 10 tracks and unfortunately the album ends way too soon, but while it lasts it's a great record with a bluegrass, hillbilly influenced traditional banjo stomping sound.
And on stage the band are just as brilliant with an innocent Jessica on the one side and a sturdy, bold Layne on the other, the Dirt Daubers are the real deal and will hopefully be putting out many more records and shows to come. A ten out of ten album!
